You will see your baby moving around, changing position, wriggling its fingers and toes and occasionally kicking and stretching. You will see your baby in both 2D (hospital style) and 4D modes.
During a 4D scan, facial expressions such as blinking, yawning and smiling can often be seen.
If your package includes fetal measurements you will get to find out how well your baby growing; and approximately what weight it is at the time of the scan, as well as how much fluid is around the baby, and how active it is. All this information is then presented in our Pregnancy Progress Report which can then be shown to your midwife.
During the thirty years or so since the introduction of ultrasound in obstetrics, ultrasound has not been proven to cause harm to either the mother or baby. If your baby is not in a favourable position at times during your scan, then we stop scanning whilst you move around or change you position, to ensure a safe and efficient scan.
Yes.
If your scan is not entirely successful (if views are limited for example, by unfavourable baby position), the minimum charge for ALL Babyview scans is £50. The minimum fee covers:-
- Your scan
- Fetal sexing (if requested).
- Pregnancy Progress Report (Pack One and Pack Two PLUS scans only).
- PLUS:-
- DVD of the available 2D and 4D scan movies.
- CD-Rom of saved 2D/3D scan images
- Two colour photographs.
If you decide to re-book your scan, then please note that the minimum fee is again applicable on any subsequent visit.
If the rescan is a success, then the original full scan price applies.
Not always.
Occasionally, the baby may lie in a difficult position or there may not be a pocket of amniotic fluid in the correct place to show your baby clearly in a 4D view; or the baby may be holding hands or feet over its face, limiting the 4D images available. In these instances the Babyview minimum scan fee of £50 may apply (see FAQ - 'Is there a minimum charge for a Babyview scan?' above for details), so even if the views during the scan may have been limited, you will still receive a DVD, CD ROM and representative photo prints taken from your scan.
No, Babyview is entirely optional, and does not replace your routine hospital scans.
Your Babyview 4D scan is not intended to diagnose problems with your pregnancy, but primarily to enhance the parental bonding elements of your pregnancy.
The sonographers at Babyview are committed, NHS trained professionals who take their scanning very seriously. They apply their high standards of skill, knowledge and experience to every scan they perform. If during your scan, the sonographer at Babyview suspected there may be a problem relating to your pregnancy, then they would help to put you in touch with your health professionals so further tests could be carried out if necessary.
The most popular time to have a Babyview scan is at between 27-32 weeks gestation (see pictures in gallery section for examples). However, you can have your scan
within a range of dates around this gestation. If you are unclear about how many weeks pregnant you are, you will need to speak to the Babyview staff in advance or
check your dates using Babyview's on-line gestation calculator.
At Babyview you can chose between a range of packages to suit your requirements. See our prices and packages section.
At Babyview we believe that seeing your baby helps you to bond with your unborn child and we therefore encourage you to bring partners, parents, and other children along with you. There is room for a maximum of three adults or two adults and two children in each Babyview scan studio, with comfortable seating in a relaxed atmosphere.

No. Unlike a traditional hospital ultrasound scan there is no need to have a full bladder before you attend. You can relax and enjoy the experience without any discomfort.
You should bring any antenatal records or notes with you when you attend for your scan, so that we can contact your health professionals if necessary.
This is optional, and only if the baby is in a position where the sex can be easily identified.
If you definitely DO NOT wish to know the sex, don't worry, we will deliberately avoid the genital area, negating any possibility of a 'chance' sighting, nor will you be able to tell from any of the images recorded.
If you are expecting twins you MUST book your scan as a 'Pack One' - sixty minute appointment, in order to allow for the extra time your scan will take. Please note that fetal measurements are not taken as part of a twins Babyview scan, and consequently a twins 'Pack One' scan DOES NOT include a Pregnancy Progress Report.
